It’s Sparrow, an average man passing an average life…
Friday, May 7
It was an interesting session in the gym this morning…It was only the third workout since returning from the road trip and the first after a few days of the new vegetable regimen (VR) so it was hardly a bulletin that there wasn’t the usual strength…Heck, there wasn’t even welcome back workout (WBW) strength, where you move everything down a plate because you’ve been out of the gym for a while…I don’t remember all the numbers but, for example, the final shoulder side lateral raise today was 17.5 lbs, down from the usual 25 lbs and the final hammer curl set was 27.5, down from the usual 35 lbs.
That’s OK, tho, because we’ve done a complete 180 from the previous 19 years of moving weight…Since the beginning, the diet was constructed to support the weight being moved, which basically meant lots of protein because it takes no small amount of protein and calories to support moving max weight ten times on your last set…Now, we’ll eat our veggies, and some meat, but the workout will now be constructed to support the calories being taken in.
Now, I am still observing the Wednesday Sparrow Buffet (WSB) and FastFood Saturday Breakfast (FFSB), but otherwise, I’ve done a really good job of being on program and there are already results, so we’re going to keep at it.
And while I was soaking in the hot springs I thought damn, this would have been a wonderful morning to get a walk in, so we’ll see what happens next week…Regular readers of this crap know the walks last year were well enjoyed, particularly the River Route, and we just might get back into it.
The smoothness of the refinancing process got me thinking when The Ex and I first bought The Shire in 2014…We were preapproved for a mortgage with our bank and the process was a pain from the start, with ol’ Sparrow having to send in the same forms again and again…Finally, weary of this, I called and whined about it:
– Well, you have to understand, sir, this is a very document-intensive process.
– Yeah, but I’ve sent you these documents five times already.
– Yeah, well, you know…
– Can I send them some more, so you can have extras on hand???
He didn’t see the humor in that…Fine…I saw no point in the further beating of my head against the wall and gave up…Later, ten days before closing, they let me know my application had been turned down despite having been preapproved and I immediately stopped breathing…My realtor, Jim, suggested Kathryn and BOOM, a few days later I’m heading home from the big city where I did a TV interview for my US Senate campaign – this was a marvelous time to be running for the US Senate, by the way – when I got an email saying I’ve been approved and I resumed breathing.
The reason we were turned down was that The Ex had just started at the retailer and hadn’t been there long enuff…I called to really whine about this and told the guy that you knew her job status when we first applied so how come you pre-approved us for a loan we weren’t qualified for???…He didn’t really have a satisfactory answer to that, or even an unsatisfactory answer, and agreed to refund our house inspection fee and some other monies we had paid based on having been pre-approved.
(Last year, when I was talking with Kathryn before the first refinancing I told her about this and she nodded and noted the bank was rather infamous for their mortgage department going haywire about this time.)
Sparrow’s Sleep Log:
2030 Thursday until 0330 Friday
1730 Friday until 2130 Friday
11.0 hours for the day and 39.5 hours for the week, a rather depressing figure heading into Saturday’s final sleep session of the week.
The Diary of a Nobody is a novel. All elements are either products of the author’s imagination or are used fictitiously. Anything else is a coincidence.
It was inspired by the 19th-century British novel of the same name.
